Job Type: 10 hours per week
JOB SUMMARY
The Information Management Volunteer will provide part-time technical support to strengthen information systems across multi-sectoral humanitarian programs. Reporting to the Health & Nutrition Specialist, the volunteer will lead to improvements to organizational dashboards, support field offices with information management tools, and contribute to the design and implementation of an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system and related platforms. The role will focus on enhancing data quality, usability, and accessibility to support evidence-based decision-making in complex humanitarian settings.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Information Management & Dashboards
• Review, improve, and maintain programmatic and clinical dashboards for senior management and technical teams.
• Ensure dashboards are aligned with program objectives, donor requirements, and decision-making needs.
• Automate data flows where feasible to reduce manual reporting and improve data timeliness.
• Standardize indicators and data visualization across sectors, with a particular focus on health and nutrition.
Field Office (FO) Support
• Provide technical IM support to field offices, including troubleshooting, system optimization, and user guidance.
• Develop and refine data collection tools (e.g., Kobo, ODK, DHIS2, Power BI, Excel-based systems).
• Support capacity strengthening of field staff on data use, reporting, and basic analysis.
• Ensure consistency in data structures and reporting formats across all locations.
EMR System & Platform Development
• Support the design, customization, and rollout of an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system suitable for humanitarian and low-resource settings.
• Work closely with the H&N specialist, MEAL, Medical Director, and clinical teams to align the EMR with clinical workflows and reporting needs.
• Contribute to system documentation, user guidance, and data governance protocols.
• Support interoperability between the EMR and other organizational IM platforms where relevant.
Data Quality, Governance & Compliance
• Establish and support data quality assurance processes, including validation checks and routine reviews.
• Ensure compliance with organizational data protection, confidentiality, and ethical standards, particularly for health and nutrition data.
• Support development and enforcement of data management, SOPs, and IM guidelines.
Analysis, Reporting & Decision Support
• Produce or support analytical outputs (tables, graphs, maps) for internal reports, donor reporting, and strategic reviews.
• Support the H&N technical specialist, Medical Director, and senior management with tailored data analysis as needed.
• Contribute to periodic reviews, lessons learned, and performance monitoring exercises.
Other Information Management Tasks
• Provide ad-hoc IM support to program, MEAL, and technical teams as required.
• Support integration of IM systems across sectors where applicable.
• Keep abreast of best practices in humanitarian information management and digital health systems.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
• Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Public Health, Computer Science, Data Science, or related fields.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in information management, preferably in humanitarian or development settings.
• Proven experience developing and managing dashboards and data visualization tools.
• Experience supporting health programs and/or clinical information systems is highly desirable.
• Previous involvement in EMR systems or digital health platforms is a strong asset.
• Experience working with INGOs or UN agencies preferred.
• Strong proficiency in IM tools such as Power BI, Excel, Kobo/ODK, DHIS2, or similar platforms.
• Understanding of health information systems and clinical data workflows.
• Knowledge of data protection and confidentiality principles.
• Ability to translate technical data into actionable insights for non-technical users.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
• Cultural sensitivity and experience working in complex, high-pressure environments.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality.
• Fluency in English required. Arabic or other relevant languages is an asset.
