Job Title: Community Outreach & Events Coordinator 

Job location: Chicago, USA 

Reports to: Community Engagement & Partnerships Director 

 

JOB SUMMARY 

The Community Outreach & Events Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing fundraising galas, community events, and donor engagement initiatives to support MedGlobal’s mission. This role leads event logistics, builds partnerships with key stakeholders, supports donor cultivation efforts, and collaborates across teams to ensure high-quality and impactful events. The coordinator will also recruit and manage volunteers and contribute to marketing, outreach, and sponsorship strategies. 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Event Planning & Execution 

  • Plan and coordinate fundraising galas, community events, and donor engagement activities from concept to completion. 

  • Manage event logistics, budgets, timelines, vendor relationships, contracts, and on-site operations. 

  • Ensure seamless execution and attendee experience during all events. 

Community Outreach & Partnerships 

  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to build partnerships with local organizations, sponsors, community leaders, and donors. 

  • Represent MedGlobal at community meetings and networking events. 

  • Support relationship-building efforts to increase visibility and expand donor base. 

Volunteer Management 

  • Recruit, train, supervise, and support volunteers for events and programs. 

  • Develop volunteer schedules and ensure roles are clearly defined and executed. 

Fundraising & Sponsorship 

  • Collaborate with the development team to design and implement fundraising strategies and sponsorship packages. 

  • Assist with donor cultivation campaigns and stewardship follow-up. 

Marketing & Communications Support 

  • Work closely with the marketing team to promote events through social media, email campaigns, and other channels. 

  • Support attendee engagement strategies before, during, and after events. 

Monitoring & Evaluation 

  • Track event performance, attendance, and fundraising outcomes. 

  • Prepare post-event reports and make recommendations for continuous improvement. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Marketing, or a related field preferred. 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in outreach, fundraising, event planning, or community engagement (nonprofit setting preferred). 

  • At least 1 year of team or volunteer management experience. 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to engage diverse stakeholders. 

  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities with attention to detail. 

  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with donor management or CRM software preferred. 

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. 

  • Strong problem-solving skills and flexibility in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Passion for MedGlobal’s mission and commitment to humanitarian principles. 

  • Knowledge and experience working with faith-based giving initiatives, especially Muslim giving. 

Additional Information 

  • Position is based in Chicago, IL. 

  • Hybrid work model, with some in-person event requirements. 

  • Occasional evenings and weekends required based on event schedule. 

  • Occasional travel within the local community or to other states for events or meetings.
