MedGlobal is a global humanitarian non-profit organization providing medical and health education services to people in need, including refugees and displaced persons, in disaster and underserved regions. The organization is composed of medical and public health professionals of diverse backgrounds.
JOB SUMMARY
The Community Outreach & Events Specialist is responsible for planning and executing MedGlobal events and outreach initiatives. This role supports fundraising, strengthens community partnerships, and promotes organizational visibility.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Community Outreach:
- Organize and participate in community outreach activities to engage and educate the public about MedGlobal work.
- Represent MedGlobal at community meetings, events, and networking opportunities to raise awareness about our mission and programs.
- Identify and engage potential donors, sponsors, and partners within the community to support MedGlobal.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local community organizations, businesses, educational institutions, and other potential partners.
- Plan for and manage fundraising galas, community events, and donor engagements from concept to execution.
- Collaborate with the development team on fundraising efforts and sponsorship packages.
- Support marketing and communication for events, including social media, email campaigns, and attendee engagement.
- Create detailed event plans, agendas, programs, timelines, and budgets, ensuring all logistical aspects are covered.
- Maintain accurate records and generate reports on event outcomes and financial performance.
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to support various aspects of event planning and execution.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- A bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in outreach, fundraising, or community engagement, preferably in a nonprofit setting with 1 year at least in team management.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse groups of people.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with donor management software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Passion for MedGlobal mission and a commitment to humanitarian principles.
- Knowledge and experience working on faith-based giving initiatives, especially Muslim giving.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- This position is based in Chicago, IL, with occasional evening and weekend work required.
- Occasional travel may be required to attend events and meetings within the local community or in other states.
